Sim City - EA are greedy *******s Thread.

I'm not sure what to go for. Mass Effect 3 or Dead Space 3. Decisions, decisions....

EDIT: Dead Space 3, the last two were amazing.

The one that fixes the need to have one-road cities?

Patch out was the following (not sure it's the one your referring to it may be the the one).

Update 3/18/2013 - Update 1.7

General:
  • All units and buildings can now be demolished using the bulldoze tool.
  • Performance improvements for low spec systems.

Traffic Improvements:
  • Tuned traffic congestion and fixed some intersection traffic issues.
  • Emergency Vehicles will drive in empty lanes to get around traffic at intersections.
  • Emergency and Delivery vehicles get priority over regular traffic when leaving garage.

Plus, some of us are getting a free game out of it. :D

If memory recalls there was maybe 1 instance where i couldn't log on (Might have been twice) but the mindset I'm at right now is "I hope EA do more disastrous launches" the free game alone compensates for me personally a worthwhile investment considering sim city cost me next to nothing with some old asda vouchers I had plus a high % off the game I think i paid between £5- £7 :P

More bad launches EA. (y)

Roads have sucked in just about every SimCity game. I remember my most successful cities having no roads just rail, in past versions.

I don't tell a difference with the patch but I do suck at making roads, so there's that...

Yeah, personally I think they could of made the road system much better. This thing that "guesses" what you want can get quiet annoying if you're trying to do anything too good. Gotta settle with mediocre IMO.

I bought SimCity and haven't really experienced any issues with it. But, I tend to play late at night when the servers are likely less busy.

I went for Sim City 4, mainly because I already have BF3 and the others dont really do anything for me. I did have a DVD copy of SC4 a long, long time ago but lost it. At least I can still play this one on the mac via parallels or a cider wrapper :)

It was a pretty poor selection of games though really. Would have thought that The Sims 3 would have been on the list, that way they get you hooked on the game, and then you buy the expansion packs.

Also the 1.7 patch which is supposed to fix roads, apparently still doesnt work correctly according to reddit.simcity.

The server loads arent an issue anymore (most of the time anyway). It's the flawed game simulation. The traffic and economy are just pure crap. For example, person moves to your city, they pick the closes house to them on the road. Then each day they go to work, they go to the closest place that has a job, then on the way home, go into the closes house. So no sim is ever at the same job or house.

Then theres the fact that you can basically fill your city with just residential (no services, government buildings, etc) and you keep making money, despite the sims having no jobs, and your city burning down.

Very flawed game logic.
