is there an option to disable user signatures under media comments?

There's no option surrounding this. They'd need to be removed via the template directly (xfmg_comment_macros).

Removed the line

<xf:macro template="message_macros" name="signature" arg-user="{$comment.User}" />

and it was gone on album and picture comments.
