Thank you, however experience told me that users find that way of displaying categories too confused. So paradoxically the old 2000 forum page gains more users.

I agree. If they are used to the old structure then, yes, it must be confusing but just think about someone new to forums.

http://www.shadowedsoul.net is the primary site that I run, we are a gaming guild, mostly of adults with history going back more than 10 years now in various games. We use wordpress for a CMS front end and tie it into VB, it works well for our needs at the moment
