XF 2.2 Setting maximum preview length/widget height for Expanded View on "New Threads" widget

Hello,

I am trying to put some text content above my forum nodes on my website, to have an area for important "news" that is immediately visible to visitors.

To this purpose I am using the "New Threads" widget, located at "Forum list: Above nodes". I have it set to preview 1 article from the selected node in Expanded View, which allows me to display content directly on the main page as desired.

However, Expanded view will preview the entire article with no limits, meaning for lengthier posts the preview can take up an obscene amount of space.

Is there any way I can set a maximum window height or character limit for the Expanded View on the New Threads widget?

In the meantime, you can add this to the extra.less template:

[data-widget-key="widget_name"]
{
    .block
    {
        max-height: 100px;
        overflow-y: hidden;
    }
}

Change the widget key name and max height as required.
You can also replace hidden with scroll if you want to be able to see the content.
