XF 2.1 Setting all users to Registered

Someone mentioned setting all users to Registered, even admins and mods, etc, so that there would be no permission issues after upgrading from XF1 to XF2. Then just have the staff and donating members have secondary usergroups.

Is this correct... and if so, how do I blanket change all users to Registered as their primary user group?

I suppose I will also have to figure out which members are part of other usergroups. Seems like a very complicated task if this has to be done. Surely there is an easy way to proceed.

The Batch update users function will do that easily.

But then how do you add them back to their "actual" usergroup as a secondary usergroup?

Add the secondary user group before changing them all to registered as primary, via the same merhod (batch update)
