This error has been showing up in my log. I have 6 since yesterday,

Is your mail SMTP system connected to a server IP? Or are you using a corporate mail system?
 
These types of errors are almost always going to be issues with the mail server or mail server configuration. They'll be retried so if you don't experience further issues it was likely just an intermittent issue.
