SSL getting mainstream now with SPDY and all other technologies and SEO benefits.
But exposing forum IP when pulling images for XF image proxy lead in to more trouble as many competitors now use easy cyber attacks to take you down.

Its better to pull images from a separate server as a subdomain of your domain and display them in the forum.
Any such mechanism will be really helpful to make that XF image proxy usable.

This is very impotent for all popular sites, most of them use cloudflare like services to protect their servers.
with new layer 7 http attack methods only few services like cloudflare can effectively protect them. so purchasing your hosting provider ddos protection is mostly worthless

We're using Camo as well (with nginx in front of it for caching) for our Non-Xenforo forums - works absolutely flawlessly.
