Hi everyone i've heard lots of great things about xenforo and I was wondering what the benefits of this over other forum providers. As sometime next year id like to make a brave frontier forum. Also I'm still a little confused what the ressource manager is.

Better security. Over the course of its existence since 2010, XenForo has only had two security issues, both of which were promptly fixed:

Also I'm still a little confused what the ressource manager is.

It lists all add-ons, template modifications, etc.

From the purchase details page - https://xenforo.com/purchase/xenforo-details:

The Resource Manager is an official XenForo add-on that allows you to manage resources such as files and tutorials or other article-like content along side your normal forum. The aim is allow content such as files to be listed with a focus on the initial content rather than discussion surrounding it. Users can watch resources and be updated whenever a new version is released.

Resources can be sold (as a link to external purchase handling), downloaded directly from the resource manager, downloaded from an external URL, or provided without a file. The administrator can control the type of resources allowed and who can post them on a per category basis. Discussion threads can automatically be created for each resource, allowing the target forum and a thread prefix to be specified per resource category.

It is completely integrated into XenForo, including support for moderator permissions, logging, manual approval and soft-deletion, liking, news feed entries and alerts, reporting, search, spam cleaning, and statistics.

You must have be running XenForo 1.2.0 or newer to use this add-on.

Access to Resource Manager updates and support is included as long as your XenForo license is current for support and updates. When extending your XenForo license, the cost of add-on extensions will be automatically added to the base cost.

It is an optional extra that can be added to your license if you wish.

You'll get biased answers here. Most people here will say XenForo, because that's probably our board of choice if we're replying to you. If you go to a competitor's forums you'll hear good about them, because the members replying to you there say that's their board of choice.

Try a demo, read the features, do some comparisons and choose the best for you. All I can say is, some competitors have good features some places, but I feel XenForo beats them all. The updates, the UI, the community, the support. It's absolutely mind blowing.

As someone already mentioned it's for add-ons etc but can be utilized for anything that benefits your community.

We purchased it because we were converting our sites over from vBulletin and using it for Tutorials. Well worth the little extra you pay for the added benefit of outstanding organization of material.

It alone has made the transition for my members so much easier.
