Is there an option anywhere to search "unread" threads?

You'll have to elaborate.

No. There is no function that displays only threads with zero replies.

They do appear in New Posts, but of course there are threads with > 0 replies there too.

The closest alternative I could suggest is to change the order in which you, personally, see threads.

You can click on "replies" and it will sort to the most to the least or least to most. And of course if anything has 0 it would be on top.
