While it says:
"You may leave these fields blank to include the content provided by the feed, or enter your own text, inserting any of the following tokens to represent data from the feed:
{title} {content} {author} {link}"

You can't. You get a nag to fill in the message field.

Thank you for reporting this issue, it has now been resolved. We are aiming to include any changes that have been made in a future XF release (2.2.0 Beta 4).
