Reusing XenForo_Template_Abstract classes?

I wonder if it is possible to reuse XenForo_Template_Abstract classes? Like this:

$myTemplate = $template->create("template1", $template->getParams()); // $template is a XenForo_Template_Abstract
$myTemplate->setParam("things", "cool!");
$output .= $myTemplate->render();
$myTemplate->setParam("things", "not really");
$output .= $myTemplate->render();
