XF 1.2 Require user to fill custom field before he could access specific forums

I was wondering if anyone had the same problem: I need users to fill out custom field when they try to create a thread or view other people's threads in specific forums. Is there an add-on for that? I can't keep track of all the add-ons that are released each day

But is there any way to display a message when user tries to create a thread or to view existing one? Because the only thing they'll get is just an access error.

I assumed by the title you wanted them to complete the profile field in order to gain access.

That would require some custom development unless you give them access to view the node and create a notice directing them to their profile to complete the field.
