I'm revamping my board, winter is coming, and there is something bothering me a lot, the number after a forum name (and categories and page).

I understand why it's okay to have a number at the end of a thread, but to be honest, I feel like it's a little bit useless regarding categories, pages and forums. There is no chance that we create the same forum in the same place and for that reason I think it should be different there.

https://xenforo.com/community/forums/xenforo-suggestions/ sounds more "cool" than https://xenforo.com/community/forums/xenforo-suggestions.18/

Of course, we can still rewrite everything, and that's cool too, but I have 200 forums and I don't want to rewrite each one of them.

Ohh, I see... but don't you think it would make sense to have that done automatically?
(and since Categories can have a page too, I think that we should be able to select an url part there, or have it done automatically)

No. It makes little sense to do it automatically.

URLs, where possible, should have a numeric identifier because, frankly, the actual benefit of human readable URLs is extremely limited. Besides which, not having a numeric identifier makes post-import redirections much more difficult and it pretty much forces you to never change the URL portion because if you did, any links to that forum would then be broken, or again require some sort of redirect.

Finally, you can actually do it with categories (and forums and pages) using Route Filters.
