XF 2.2 Reinstall Smilies?

Doing this won't overwrite the smilies though, correct? You'll have to go through and delete all of the old ones individually before you can import them? Or is there a way to mass delete them all and re-import the defaults?

I just imported the file that Brogan provided. However, I did not have any other custom smilies installed. I don't know if you would loose those or not. Do a backup first so you can always restore.

I tried importing it after a failed import of legacy smilies, essentially trying to start over with default smilies. I get an error saying the text needs to be unique.

I didn't create a backup before importing them (I know, I should have). So what's the best way to move forward?

You will need to delete the existing smilies, or change the replacement text for the new ones.

Or just manually change the current smilies back to the defaults.

Those are from different software and are extremely dated now.

If you can track them down and they're free to use then you can add them in the ACP like any other smiley.

After reading the XF 2 documentation, it is not clear to me whether or not an imported simile must be in .xml format...or other formats are allowed such as .png. Maybe I missed that discussion.

If you're importing a defined set smilies (so it includes the name, replacements, specific file name, etc.) then the set is defined in an XML file.

If you're importing a directory of smilies then it scans your server folder for images.

The actual smilies themselves (whether defined in the XML or found by scanning the folder) are images (png, jpg, svg, gif or a spritesheet).
