Redirection via .htaccess?

    I have an old file in my root directory left over from moving my site from an IIS server and still gets many hits from Google.

    It is default.asp as my Linux server will not recognise .asp files what is the best way to redirect hits to this file to index.php

    Is that colon suppose to be there?

    redirect 301 /default.asp http//www.ukdivers.com/index.php
    Works now on chrome and firefox
    IE9 shows page source of index.php strange but true.
