Recommend / Like Switch

in the Announcement Thread for XF RC2 it says:

"Recommend / Like Switch
It is now possible to switch all Facebook 'Recommend' buttons to read 'Like' instead should you wish to do so."

Is the "Recommend" actually the same as "Like" or are those 2 different things?

They are the same thing, just the wording is different.

I guess it is different, as I have 5 Recommendations and 48 Likes for my page.
I assume recommendations are when people recommend my page to their friends, which is different to Likes.
