Is there an easy way to change the default that quotes the whole message when replying to a thread?

I didn't express myself very well.

It's like in this message, when I hit reply I see your whole message between [quotes]. When the message is short it doesn't matter, but when it is long, it can be annoying and/or confusing.

Will people take the time then to delete the parts of the message that aren't directly related to the reply? I don't think so.
