XF 2.1 question upgrading from XF1 to XF2

I am about to get into the process of of upgrading but have a few questions and apologise if they seem basic to our illustrious members

1/ Do I have to turn off all addons including Media and resources?
2/ In my media area I have created a field titled description (see pic) my users prefer to use this to describe their uploaded media and because it enables more text and formatting. Will XF2 recognise additional fields like this one

No, we take care of that. Though you might want to uninstall any add-ons which you know you no longer need in XF2 before upgrading.

I have an media block on my forums (see pic), is that still possible in XF2
