XF 1.5 Question about XML upload

I modified the XML file of an add-on before installing it. I noticed after the fact that I missed something in the code of that XML file. Can I make the edit and re-upload the XML file for that add-on to overwrite the old XML file? Wouldn't that be just like upgrading the add-on?

Nevermind... I see that the edit I need to make is in a template that the XML generated. I'll just edit the template instead of the XML file. This thread can be deleted.
