XF 2.1 Question about What's New sub-menu duplication

I find XF navigation pretty intuitive, but I can't seem to grasp the What's New menu/sub-menu duplication. If you click What's New, there are two exact menus. If you click to navigate you can move to other apps like Resources where the selections are unique and no longer a duplicate, so you want that bottom nav there yes. But shouldn't it only show the unique instances at the top and disappear if a duplicate, or it looks messy or like an error? Or am I missing something? Which is totally possible. Thanks!

Thanks, yeah I was getting that but if they are exact duplicates like in the screenshot should't they only show at the bottom? And remove the top sub-nav unless unique? I don't understand two exact menus butted next to each other.

remove the top sub-nav unless unique
It's only the same on this specific page/view.

Removing the sub nav would be inconsistent.

If anything, it's the lower nav which should be removed, but then it wouldn't be easy to navigate between all of the new content - you would have to go to the top nav and select each tab/sub nav item in turn.

Think of the lower nav as a time saver/convenience.

Personally I think it would be cleaner to remove the duplicates from the top so What's New is just a tab (for that selection) that opens the bottom, the same selection is an inch under it. Or cleaner somehow. But thanks for explaining.

Reorder them so at least it looks different :P (I kid)

If you want to give it a slightly different look, you can change the whatsNewNavStyle style property to "Side navigation" which will instead show the tabs along the left sidebar of the page.

A little like the side navigation on the members page:
