Question about licences

I am interested in purchasing a licence. I currently have a VB4.2 licence.

VB 3 had its own licence then if we wanted the new version we had to buy VB4. Now to get the current version of VB we have to buy VB5.

My question is:

Will Xenforo be similar, will i have to buy every new major release to stay current?

You get 12 months of updates when you purchase your license. You can pay after that to extend that access for another 12 months. This is all based around timing rather than release numbers.

(Not that we have any plans of changing that, but I should of course just say that this is correct as of this posting.)

how much would i pay to extend the updates?


Im looking to start a new forum from scratch, I'm looking for low startup costs as i have zero community members. I was referred here from Nimbus Hosting.
