XF 2.0 Question about alerts

I want to show the red dot like this

If you find alerts, the red dot appears with it.

How is it built?

Typically it would be turned on by default... but do a search in the ACP for Liveupdate or similar. I don't run XF 2.0 as my site is dependent on ShowCase which only runs on 1.X line of XF.

I don't think it does if the tab is active... If it's not working for you or your users and you have that option selected then you may need to submit a ticket.

You have a heavily customised site so the first thing to do would be to disable all add-ons and test in a completely default unedited style with all custom javascript removed.

Then generate an alert for a test account and log in via another browser/session and check for the notification on the browser tab.
