Putting Latest Posts back in Widgets after deleting

Ok so I removed some of the things on the sidebar after having a sidebar ad - that I didn't think were used. New Posts was one of them as most people use "What's new" at the top. A member asked me to put the "Latest Posts" widget back, but I've deleted it. How do I get it back please?!

Thanks - it was "Latest Posts" not New Posts. I found where to add a widget but what do I put as the key? Anything? Also "Latest Posts" isn't in the drop down list for a new widget.

I just use the New Posts widget and set the filter to Latest. Then give it the title Latest Posts. I think that is the default.

Thanks - I tried selecting "New posts" from the drop down menu and naming the Widget key "Latest_posts". It appeared in the widget menu as New Posts (with Latest posts next to it in small letters). And didn't appear on the forum page How do you mean set the filter to "Latest"?

Ah ok I can see "filter" further down the add widget page - it's already set to latest - but still didn't appear.

If I set the widget key to "forum_overview_newposts" it tells me there is already a widget key called that. So I tried adding a 2 on the end and it still didn't appear.

But that's what the widget key is on my other forum for latest posts.

Possibly that means you didn't actually delete it, just deleted it from the sidebar position. So if it's still in the widgets list but no position, just give it the position you want.

Ah it's ok - it's appeared now - I just renamed the widget key to "forum_overview_newposts_latest"

That's probably it. I've now found it further down under "no position". Can't remember how to move it up to the right position. I guess just tick the position in the widgets box if I click on it?

It seems to have jiggered my ads now The sidebar ad keeps disappearing - it's like the ad and "Latest Posts" are fighting Also my other ad at the bottom of the content has disappeared too. Just since I re-added Latest Posts. I wonder if the position of latest posts has something to do with it - it was further down before.

They've come back again now Maybe just a blip.
