Public School or Municipal Examples?

Hello. My school district is exploring the use of the forums software to provide our families with a go-to place to get information and have their questions answered. Are there any examples of school districts or city/town governments using it for this purpose? I would love to see an example before diving in.

I’m not aware of any specific examples of that, but you might find some if you search in our “Forum showcase” forum or you might find similar usage.

I’d say that it would be a pretty solid use case though.

You’d be able to do things like manual account approval (so you can verify people registering are valid and from the right district), families would be able to subscribe (watch) forums so they can receive alerts, push notifications or emails when you have announcements to make.

You can set up forum permissions such that users can only see threads they have created if you want an element of privacy (while staff on the forum can view to reply to any) or the forum could be entirely open so that people searching for the same answers might be able to find the answer before creating their own thread. Of course you can have multiple forums with different permissions too if you want a combination of things.

You can have a go at setting things up by creating a demo:

You might find this add on useful: https://xenforo.com/community/resources/allowedemails.6021/

You can set your board to only allow registrations with email address domains by the schools & City/Town governments. It would help make the registration process easier to validate legitimate people.
