Hi Zephyr, do we assume this survey is for pre-made styles since you shown the links to pre-made styles? Cheers ;)

I honestly believe that it depends on the features of the particular style. I have personally paid $30 for a style, but I have seen great ones for $20 or even less.

I'd pay over $50 for a really high quality style, and a lot more than that for something unique and customized. The cost of updates would be a factor as well.

Something like the responsive styles and properly working mobile styles could be very valuable!

As with just about any product, someone who produces a style could decide....

1. I want to sell 40 of them at $80 apiece and do customizing for the good ($) clients and therefore make $4,000 from this style in the first year....
or
2. I want to sell it for $20 in which case I may sell 100 of them in the first year or two....and make $2,000 total.

Obviously the first one makes more money - but some people are more interested in having lots of people use their work than just the money part.

This type of economics is a science it itself!

I suppose it depends on the market you want to enter. There are two, from what I can think of:
The low-end mass market of cheap styles to be used by lots of people
The high-end market where you make expensive styles for a few (maybe even custom)

People are willing to spend hundreds on designs, such as websites, just depends on the demand.

I would pay up to like $500 for a well made and polished style which received updates fast.

Depends on the designer, their ability to provide support. If I were to get a style created I'd go with someone like Kim (xenique.com) and wouldn't have trouble paying £500 plus bonus for a nicely made style which I've seen her design time and time again.

This. I would value and covert a style marketed like this, much more than a "mass marketed" style.
To me, the value of a good style is having the/a developer available to tweak or customise it.

Awww.. you made my day with that Shelley!

These days I am semi-retired from styling, and very very choosy about projects I take on, but in this purely hypothetical I would welcome you with bosom squashing bear hugging enthusiasm!
