[Poll] Deciding on a theme, need more opinions

I'm going to be purchasing one of the themes linked below over the next few days. We are too lazy to develop our own theme and there are some nice paid ones found in the Styles section. I'm looking for some more opinions on these themes, so I thought I would do a poll. Please cast your vote above by selecting one of the options and clicking cast your vote. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Well styleunity site has been down for quiet long time now so leave it out of poll .

Xenfocus iskin is nice but their fonts are too small .

Look for xenbook if it's not default.

This skin should be out for sale in few days . It's nice skin with their own framework . David is working on few others which are impressive .
 
Thanks for pointing out that the Xenfocus theme is no longer available. Brogan removed the Xenfocus poll option and the url tags from the poll options for me. Make sure to cast your vote in the poll when you get a chance.
 
I reckon if you go for a style that you prefer rather than what other people prefer would be a better option. You've obviously consolidated and condensed what styles are making the shortlist you would likely be best thinking more about what styles from the shortlist that better suits your needs not other peoples preferences after all. Your site.
 
I agree that I have to like the theme I choose, especially since I'm paying for it. I just want some more opinions, so that I can further narrow my selection. I want something that will be universally accepted for many tastes.

Your always going to get a group of people that will like the style, and those that may not like it as much but if you can strive to retain quality and consistency within the style it'll eventually be accepted. Everyone has different tastes so your not going to get a true reflection what will work on your site. Out of curiosity, have you ran this poll at your site and ask for the members there that visit your site their opinions?

I know what you mean. The results of polls like this tend to be split four ways. It might work a little different in this case, since the people responding are not the users of the forum where the theme will be applied. I'm looking for color and layout preferences more than anything really. I was hoping to get at least one response from someone who has purchased one of these themes as well...

I've been participating in forums, usually as some form of staff, for a few years now. I know what you mean about not being able to please everyone and different tastes, but I do want to get a sense of which of my selections people generally do and do not like. Even with just 4 poll responses, it's already obvious that people do not like the black orange theme and they like the white theme. Thanks for your responses guys.
 
Four more days left for the poll. I was hoping for more responses and for a response from someone who has purchased a theme. I'm having second thoughts about using a theme at all since the Xenforo theme is so nice. I might just modify some basic layout stuff and use the default theme.

That's what I have done. It's much nicer to choose for yourself how you want things.
Not only is XF very flexible about colours - you can choose exactly what you like where you like -
but other kinds of customising are very possible even if you don't know how to code.

There is a file called EXTRA.css - the generous coders here giver you bits of code to copy and paste in there and hey presto! you have something exactly as you like it.

To do just your own logo and choose all your colours - allow a couple of hours.
To do more coding using EXTRA.css you may need a couple of days. But spread out over longer it's not so bad.

You're going to live with this for a while - why not make it YOURS!

Acceptable if you're obsessed with boring boring black. Just like so many other black forums. I think the idea is that black is dramatic although it looks like kids dressing up to look sophisticated.

Not Xenfracture that's even more boring than usual. s like someone hasn't cleaned or dusted, or hasn't opened the curtains. Might be OK for a business corporate.
Resurgent on the same page is not on your list but definitely interesting. It has depth and impact.

Seems to do nothing except select one colour to change + the boring black background.

I suppose if you're dead set on black this is the least boring. At least it has some contrast and your users could pick which they like.

Every time you post about styles, for some reason I always get the feeling you don't know what you are talking about.

xenFracture and Infinite (not Infinit) are two of the best styles out there for XF, also Infinite doesn't have a "black" background.

You don't need to say that others don't know what they are talking about in order to make what you say carry weight.
Your opinion is plenty powerful enough on its own. YOU know what you're talking about. So just say it.
You don't agree with me about styles. That's powerful as a statement precisely because it's not rude or female doggy. It makes the point in a dignified but solid way.
It might even lead into interesting discussion which is what forums are for.

I've corrected the spelling on "Infinite" in my own post for you. But as I copied it from the original post you'll need to take it up with the author to get that changed to your satisfaction.
Infinite has a black background to its header zone and to its side strip backgrounds.

Yes I can see that those styles are well constructed for XF.
There is a big fashion cult for black forums for around 7 years now. It would be all too easy for a new or newish admin to feel pressured to join the fashion because it can look like the "proper" thing to do. It needs to be stated that black on black with black for dessert is not everyone's idea of delight. In fact black has become so standard and routine it's a relief when something else opens up for a change.

The hex color for the background of Infinite is #222222 which is defiantly not black. Also I was going off of your post in the eForum thread where you said it looked slapped together with the forum design.
