Using pirated addons doesn't fall within its scope.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that Your Content and Your use of the Software complies with all applicable legislation and regulations, including but not limited to all applicable Data Protection and Privacy legislation. You undertake to ensure that the Software is not used by You or others to engage in illegal activity. You may not use the software to engage in any activity that would violate the rights of third parties. You hereby agree to indemnify Us from any loss or damage arising from Your breach of this provision.

Using a pirated 3rd party addon does fall under the scope of the license agreement.

Common sense, there is nothing in the license agreement that indicates otherwise. It's none of Xenforo's business if their customers do crimes that didn't involve them. Microsoft can't revoke your Windows license just because you pirated movies with it.

Common sense dictates that is a bad example. Don't need a Windows to view a pirated movie. However, you DO need XF to use a pirated addon. If XF really wanted to send a message to the current crop of self entitled cretins who feel stealing is an acceptable standard, they'd put the hammer down on those license holders and the majority of us would stand back and cheer them on.

If you are that eager about accessing license informations of people, why not make it like IPS and put all licensed members in a usergroup with a small mark?

Your wording makes it sound more personal than it needs to be, license information is not the same as seeing a "licensed" user.

Using pirated addons doesn't fall under the scope of this. What is meant by this is that it's prohibited to use XenForo for warez forums or any other forums with content that violates rights of third parties. I thought this is common for all businesses.

What a crock of utter BS. You pirate an addon, it DEFINITELY affects a third party. The author of said addon.

It's amusing to watch the excuses that some come up with to justify bad behavior.

You really think that would hold up in a court of law?

My question is, why are you so concerned about potentially having a license revoked for using 3rd party addons? Surely if your using legitimate addons theres no issue?

Pirating an addon affects a third party, not using it. The damage is already done before you install the property. Again, it's just like Windows. MS can't forbid you to install pirated apps.

Sure they can, if they work it into their license. However, it might not be very cost-effective to pursue every single person running pirated software.

So because I didn't directly pirate that version of MS Office 2003 all those years ago, it's OK because I didn't actually do it, I was just using it
