Pingdom Test: My Page Makes 60-69 Requests, Similar XF Page Makes 52

I ran Pingdom page load test on two similar looking pages on my site and XenForo. It turns out that XF took 52 requests while my site showed 69. I'm using the default theme would few CSS modifications. But is there anything else I should do to cut down on the number of requests?

Update: I disabled facebook and twitter buttons and requests came down to 44 and 42 for some other pages on my community. That even made our site show 'faster than 90%' of the websites.

The closest I've even been with Pingdom tools on a dynamic site is:
Your website is faster than 95% of all tested websites and that's with JIRA.
