XF 2.0 Phrases on update

My add-on dynamically creates phrases in production, much like trophy titles, etc. Is it wise to associate them with the add-on? That way, they would be automatically deleted upon uninstallation. However, I am not sure what happens to them on update, as they'll logically won't be present in the phrases.xml of the new version. Would they be automatically deleted upon update if I associate them with my add-on, or am I safe to do so?

Phrases for any dynamically created content must not be associated with an add-on -- look at things like custom fields and thread prefixes, for example. If they're associated with your add-on, they'll be removed on upgrade.

You would need to take care of manually removing these phrases on uninstall.
