Permissions to post articles (permissions by thread type)

I was thinking this over, and realized it's imperative that we have permissions for thread types. If you think of it from a different perspective, consider a car forum. That forum may already have separate areas for each generation of a model of the vehicle. (The one I'm thinking of as an example has five generational areas, plus there are individual areas for auto electronics, tires and wheels, hitches and racks, detailing, DIY modifications, etc.) General information questions ("You own X...how do you like it?") would probably be posted as Discussions. A how-to repair would be best in an Article. Someone asking for a specific solution to a problem would be better off using the Question thread type to help vote for the best solution.

Keeping them mixed in a single forum might be best. What happens if we start adding individual forums for each thread type, for each topic? Now ten forums has turned into 30, if we have to divide forums by the three thread types we might want to use. It makes navigation a nightmare (most users aren't forum-savvy like we are) and turns them away from a board that is already bursting with too many forums. Members will continually post things in the wrong place. This is a case where they may want to restrict article creation to members in a "contributors" usergroup, which would take away some of the grief of having members post in a single area. Even if articles could have a permission, at least the staff would only have to worry about sorting through and correcting questions and discussions.
