Permission group vs. Interface group

Well-known member
When I edit usergroups permissions, I see just the 'Permission groups'.
I don't think I get the idea of the 'Interface group'..
What it is used for?

Interface groups are how you see them in the control panel. Permission groups are how you access them programmatically. (And only one permission group can exist for "content level" permissions.)
