There was a mod for it in Beta 1, if it's still there it ought to be in the add-on or template-customizations forum. But otherwise - no, you can't password forums.

Just to understand, you mean a particular node "forum" within the board?
Or a password for the whole board?

There is no such feature. You can post a suggestion:

You can control access to individual forums with groups and node permissions:

Admin CP -> Users -> Node Permissions
