The delay on thread previews while they load is annoying to me.

Lack of interest option for preloaded thread previews

I recall when the preview was implemented, there was quite a bit of discussion related to the loading time.
I can't locate the thread at the moment though.
Like you I also though the delay made the feature less than ideal as I can actually click on the thread, scan it, and click back in the time it takes for the preview overlay to load and read it.
I believe though it was set with such a delay to avoid falsely triggering the overlay when just mousing over the titles and also to do with how the preview is generated.
