One database instance for multiple XF installation

@Maru, I don't think that answers his question. In some packages, you can select a distinct table prefix to allow you to have multiple copies running from one DB instance, just referencing their appropriate tables using the prefix.

@Haresh Dhola, I don't remember honestly if the setup process asks you for a specific prefix. I'll have to set up a test site to check if nobody else chime in before then.

Whilst what you say is true, so many addons dont allow prefix setup, that you would be crazy to have multiple forums per database, it would be a nightmare to manage. However no issue at all with running multiple XenForo databases per the one database server

Thank you Tracy, Jim.
I want use one DB for multiple XF instance so I can use same users for multiple forums.
As for sharing users.. I believe there is a multi-site add-on that will allow that. It will require you to have a license for each one of the sites you are going to set up.

I don't think you are going to be able to do it without some code changes on the back end.
This is the setup screen for a virgin install As you can see, there is no where to specify table prefixes.

No, but if you are limited to 1 or 2 DB's by your host, you may not be able to do that if you already have 2 WordPress sites going. It does require the ability to assign each instance a specific prefix (I believe WordPress does this as well as myBB and phpBB). I know when I used the older version of myBB, it allowed me to keep both the myBB and CopperMine Gallery all in one DB.
