XF 2.1 Notices keep appearing after being dismissed

I have two floating notices for the main forum page that are set to be dismissed:

Notice may be dismissed - Users may hide this notice when they have read it - this is checked. But once you've dismissed the notice and come back to the page, the notice appears again. Is there an option I've overlooked? I figure once one has seen a notice, and they select "dismiss" they will never see it again. I have the notices fade out in 6 seconds.

I only tested this as a guest, but I wasn't able to reproduce any issue with notices reappearing on the site listed for your license.

For registered members, it should be tracked internally (it's a cookie for guests), so the only thing that comes to mind is some sort of page caching outside of XF. I don't recall any options that would control this.
