Hi, I'm trying to learn how to use Xenforo. I have a question: in one forum, a direct message seems to count towards the message counter, but in another forum, it doesn't. Is this a bug? Do direct messages count as messages and therefore increase the counter?

both "your content" and "messages:" appear but in one of the two forums the message (dm) is counted numerically in the counter, why?

I asked an AI out of curiosity and it said that it was possible for direct messages to be counted numerically in the counter

Just so you are aware. Messages are considered as "posts". On your member card you'll see that it shows 3 messages, that will include any threads you created and then any replies you have made.

When you setup the nodes, there is a setting where it says in advanced options,

"Count messages posted in this forum toward user total"

You either check it or not depending on if you want posts in that forum to count toward user total.

So officially if he went into the administrator's profile and clicked "contact" or something like that, can't it be counted numerically in the counter?

No, it has to be either they started a thread or replied in a thread to count toward their total. Any private messages/conversations are totally different so no one will see those.
