XF 2.2 Not knowing the only super admin password

I have a test forum where I changed the super admin password thinking my iCloud would pick it up and I wouldn’t need to remember it. For some reason, iCloud didn’t add it like it usually does.

The super admin account did not have a working email associated to it so forgot password cannot be used (I think?).

Is there anything that can be done in a case like this? This case specifically isn’t a big deal as it was a test forum that I can delete and recreate.

But for future reference if this happens to anyone on their live forum...

Edit your user in the DB and add a working email, then do a lost password reset.

I was going to try to use the DB but I didn’t think you can edit passwords there. Didn’t even think to add an email as you said. Thank you!

No, you can’t do the PW but you can change the email.

An alternative approach if you have access to another account (e.g. a moderator account) is to edit the database to change that account to super admin, then log in and set a password for the other admin account.

change the super admin account to yourself in config.php, then you can edit that user in admin.php to whatever you need to for a new email

XF2 doesn't use config.php for super admin accounts.
