XF 1.5 Node rationalisation

My forum structure is currently very complicated. I need to remove many nodes as they are not being used, I tried to remove one but it times out!

Is there any way of removing nodes in batches?

I think that rationalising the site structure could also improve site performance, which could help prevent timeouts in future.

When you say it times out, what actually happens?

There's no way to remove the nodes in bulk. If you can't get past the time out, there may be a change that you can temporarily make to the code to reduce the amount of work done, though manual code changes like that aren't ideal.
