XF 2.2 No Image uploads when airdropped from iPhone to iMac?

My developer tells me that Xenforo does not support HEIC because it is a proprietary Apple format. When I airdrop a file to my iMac I am unable to then upload it to Xenforo. Even when I change the extension to JEPG it is still using the HEIC encoding.

Please point me in the direction of a solution.

Changing the extension does not change the file type.

You will need to convert it to a compatible format.

Uploading it to Google Photos and then downloading it will convert it to jpg.
