XF 2.2 New Users Assigned to Administrator Usergroup

Hi,

I'm seeing sporadically new users being assigned to our administrator usergroup.

When changing their usergroup from admin to a regular registered user the admincp change log shows the change as:

Old: 0
New: Registered

Any ideas?

Thanks, but that's not it. We have one promotion but it doesn't include anything with the admin admin group.

This happened randomly with another user group, one that started with a number (100 posts, etc.). Since we no longer used the group, we deleted it.

Is it possible that XenForo is randomly registering users to the first alphanumeric usergroup?

If the old value is 0 then something isn't working right.
Members should always be in at least one user group.

Yes, we use several.

In your TT settings, were you allowing in-app registration or forcing native registration? Do not use in-app registration. It bypasses xenforo's native anti-spam and 3rd party anti-spam addons, and also bypasses xenforo's usergroup system apparently. Set it to force native registration only.
