XF 2.1 MySQL 8 Upgrade

We are currently running XenForo 2.1.2. Our host needs to upgrade MySQL 5.7.41 to MySQL 8.

(1) If we proceed with the MySQL 8 upgrade, will we experience any issues with our current XenForo 2.1.2 install? We want to ensure everything goes smoothly. MySQL 5.5 or newer was recommended in the official XenForo 2.1.2 release notes. We have PHP 7.3.33 if that makes a difference.

(2) We will take the forum offline before the upgrade. If there is anything else we need to do, please confirm.

We plan to upgrade XenForo to a newer version in a few weeks, however, we need to make some upgrades to our server beforehand.

I've been running MySQL 8 for years now on both my XF 2.x forums and my XF 1.5 forums!

As long as you make a thorough backup of the entire database beforehand you will have nothing to worry about imo. If you have made manual changes to templates or the core files it would be best to make a backup of those as well.
