MySQL 5.5 ➡︎ MariaDB 10.3 Upgrade - Critical Warnings

fwiw, we had some major functionality issues starting with 10.3.17 i believe it was....staying with 10.3.16 seemed to be ok...

i know not everyone had my problems tho so YMMV

I've been running fine on MariaDB for the 12 months I've been running XenForo 2.x, never had any issues. Currently running 10.3.21.

XenForo 2.x and MariaDB are completely compatible at this time. If someone is having issues running MariaDB it is most likely not related to a stock installation of the XenForo 2.x software.

I have a stock installation with a small collection of 50 odd add-ons... cause for a concern?

Just having 50+ add-ons would concern me.

As for compatibility with MariaDB : https://mariadb.com/kb/en/library/mariadb-vs-mysql-compatibility/

If I was you and hadn't made the jump to MariaDB yet, I would stay with MySQL. MySQL 5.7 and 8.0 has some great speed improvements and in many instances outperforms MariaDB 10.3/10.4.

i believe our issue was inability to post photos....nothing major lol...i did get as far as to replicate it with addons disabled as well.....but im not sure what that was all about tbh.....perhaps in some way related to a custom server build...or an oversight on the engineers part, although he seemed to check over things to confirm that was not the case...

i never did confirm what the issue was we just went back one version and things worked again, but it was a big headache so i did want to mention that fwiw......best lucks to you, i dont really suspect you will have an issue but its one to test as you never know..

I've converted from MySQL to MariaDB on a few servers with no issues. Generally, you do see some benefits in speed and stability.
