XF 1.3 My Link Not Going To My Signup Drop Down

Ok easy on me folks, I'm a noob and can't figure something out. I created an HTML link on my page as http://www.example.com/login/ but when I click on the link it gives me the info below. Someone gave me some code to copy and paste and just change the particulars to suit but their link works while mine doesn't. What am I missing?

The requested URL /login/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

You aren't using Friendly URLs.

In your case the URL is http://www.mysite.com/index.php?login/
