Lego's aren't the same anymore, now it's all these pre-made kits with instructions step-by-step, what happened to the good old fashion times where you had a massive bucket of random pieces which you used your creativity to build stuff :D.

You mean the castles, lagoons, space stations etc.? Well, the Star Wars lego still looks like the good old times to me.

Edit: Wait... you mean the real stuff, 2 colours only, with those pimples that didn't really bind the bricks? Nah, I don't miss those times! :D

o.O Sounds like a nightmare to me.

I miss my Legos :(

This is a friend's house but growing up my basement was similar. I gave a 40 gallon garbage can full of my old Legos to my aunt when my cousin was of age to play with them. At some point she discarded them. :( I bought some more back on ebay but it isn't the same.

Your pictures remind me of the Lego train layout I saw several years ago that was part of the model railroad museum at Balboa Park in San Diego, California.
While I was impressed with what they had put together, it appears your friend could give them a run for their money! In fact, I see similar design elements: airport, water scene, cityscapes, working train, etc.

Probably more than you wanted to know about Lego train stuff, huh?! :D

BTW - I'm not at all into Legos and really not that much into model trains. I just found this topic rather interesting and your post sparked a nice memory for me, so I thought I'd comment. (y)

One of my few regrets in life was not going to Legoland in California when I used to fly out to San Diego/LA for work for years. My co-workers told me it would be weird for an adult to go to Legoland without kids. o_O
