XF 2.1 Move certain threads from 1.5x site to 2.X site

We have two completely different sites, one is in 1.5.x and the other is in 2.X version. Now, we want to close the first site which is in 1.5.x version. At the same time, we would like to move few threads from that site to the 2.x site.

What is the best way to achieve this?

If you're going to shut down the 1.5 site, then perhaps try stripping the old 1.5 site down to only the content you want to keep and then importing it into the 2.x site. The trick is that the 1.5 site will need to be upgraded to 2.x first before you import.

1. make a backup of both sites just in case!
2. remove all threads, users, forums, etc from the 1.5 site that you don't want moved to the new site
3. upgrade the 1.5 site to 2.x
4. import the upgraded site that ran 1.5 into the existing 2.x site

You'll want to experiment on a test server first to ensure you get the desired result.
