Duplicate Moderated thread needs approval twice

Since upgrading to the latest version of XF 2.2 and enabling write before registering, I'm getting thread/posts that are stuck in the moderation queue that need to be approved twice. I think it's because they're tripping the moderation rules for akismet and then a "Spam phrase matched" (/https?:|www\./i), this only happens on pre-registration postings.
