Migrating from vB: Internal and external links to specific threads

Migrating from vBulletin 4.2.x to Xenforo is on the agenda for my forum in the first half of 2015.

However, my forum is more than 10 years old and it has a lot of external and internal links pointing to specific threads.

My question is, what happens to these links when I upgrade to Xenforo? I know the Xenforo URL structure is different. Will links on other websites pointing to threads with the vBulletin URL structure be automatically redirected to the correct thread or will there be problems?

You should setup redirects for your previous URLs. There are resources to help with this. Those redirects would then handle moving users from the old URLs to the new ones.
