Merge Post issue

On Merging two posts, the old posts links doesn't redirect to new posts, that create issue while checking up reports when the post itself is reported many times for different reasons at same time by multiple users. it should either properly redirect or update links at places like reports that seems necessary.

This could be quite serious as it is very possible you might merge posts for any number of reasons (including usability/SEO or just keeping a thread tidy). There is no way to know if those posts have been quoted so after merging any quotes become dead links.

If this is not a bug, ie as designed, then a suggestion is needed.

We've run into this issue ourselves, specifically with quote links. As an example:

1. Someone creates post C, which quotes post B.
2. A moderator then merges post B into post A.
3. Now, the quote link in post C which points to post B no longer works. That post was consumed, devoured by the greedy post A.

@Chris D is there any chance this can be fixed, as this is the same when you merge two threads. it has very bad impact on SEO, when on large forums two threads are merged and google marks almost 1-2k URL as 404 if merging is done properly.
