Media Gallery as Mirror Attachments Only?

@arn how is this working out? Thinking of doing it but torn on allowing comments. Yes they can click to go to the thread and comment but if they just want to say "cool pic" then they have to quote the image in the thread and comment when they could just drop it in gallery. I know the image comments will get lost, but I don't mind as much since it's mirroring.

It’s been fine. It hasn’t been a huge feature but I think it’s nice for people to be able to see their history of attachments.

with comments and stuff turned off, it really is just an attachment manager

And the new media tab is nice to browse

ARGHHH! I forgot media comments do not have the full editor and users can't upload images! Strangest XF decision ever. Yeah, comments off. My use case was: User sees an image and wants to show off theirs (car, whatever).

I'm testing XFMG for this purpose. My idea is to prevent users from uploading images directly to the gallery. I only want to use the duplication option and have the images organized by categories and subcategories. Having them scattered and lost in threads, I think, diminishes their value (at least in my niche).

I could enable a thread where users can upload images, which, based on other users' experiences, seems more intuitive than uploading them directly from the gallery. I'm also considering modifying an RSS feed to add images from specific blogs to that thread.
