He was a very talented footballer.

He was also a cheat and his entire legacy is tainted by that goal.

Nobody is belittling his death and yes, it is a sad passing but the man shouldn't be put on a pedestal.

He lied and cheated frequently and was an absolutely terrible role model.

It is still a shame he didnt manage to beat his demons. My thoughts are with his loved ones.

His passing is a sad moment for football, and no one will deny that he was a fantastic footballer, but his legacy very much needs to just fade away. What good there was to him was marred by the copious amounts of bad there was to him, so acknowledging the sadness of his passing is fine, but to proclaim him as some sort of role model or a giant of the sport is misdirected at best.

No one is denying it's sad that he passed away, but everyone is free to share their opinion of him irrespective of that fact (this is, after all, a discussion forum and a news event). Nobody has been unjustly cruel to him or to you, so extend that same courtesy in your own postings, please.
